OUR VISION

Originating from his time as a research scientist at the Norwegian Foundation for Industrial and Technical Research, Karl Eggestad has continually striven to innovate new methods to optimize the production of real-time graphics from large, complex datasets. For a majority of the most recent three decades of his professional career, Karl has been devoted to bringing fast moving, dynamic storytelling to the public through weather broadcasting professionals.

Today, the broadcast industry is evolving to encompass more diverse user and consumer communities while moving to smaller user groups and public information services. In parallel, this new paradigm requires broadcast services to adapt, particularly those specializing in the display of geospatial data, including weather, climate, traffic, and seismic display systems.

Democratizing science based graphics production from georeferenced and geolocated data is an important step in empowering the communication of facts over fiction

said Karl when asked by a Norwegian newspaper in the late 1990s.

At the same time Karl was developing his vision, WeatherBell Analytics (https://weatherbell.com) was revolutionizing how to visualize weather data and making it accessible to more people than ever before. The company created a one-stop-shop for weather model data entirely produced in the cloud.Together, Karl and WeatherBell formed NIMBUS Media and have brought GeoStream™ (https://geo.stream) to the market, a platform that makes it possible to produce graphics from complex data anywhere, any time, and based on any data source - entirely produced, scheduled and delivered in the Cloud. Scintillating graphics from climate, weather, and virtually any other georeferenced dataset are now simply a browser page away.

Adapted to workflows aligned with broadcasters, mobile delivery platforms, digital media content providers, government and municipality offices, along with the casual social media or graphics asset users, GeoStream™ is a live, high-impact graphics content powertrain. NIMBUS Media is proud of and humbled by the reception already received in the market, and we’re ready to discuss solutions for content users that are excited to be at the forefront of new technologies.
